Website care for a Purley business after the build

Example illustration of blank cards. It is not a maintenance dashboard.

Quick answer: Website care is the later work of updates, backups and checks. It is not inside the £150, £295 or £495 build. The first year of domain, hosting and SSL is included with the build. Year two is around £60 to those providers. You can also use your own providers.

A Purley firm can launch a clear site and then ignore it until a form fails or a phone number changes. Care is how that does not become a surprise. The cards in the picture are an example of planning, not a screenshot of a monitoring tool and not a client's account.

Build, hosting and care

The build is the pages, the form and the launch. Starter is £150 for one page. Business is £295 for up to five. Growth is £495 for eight to twelve, including a blog setup. That fee is once.

Hosting is the service that keeps the files online, with the domain and the certificate. The first year is included. Year two is around £60, paid to the providers, unless you bring your own.

Care is someone looking: updates, backups, a check that the form still sends. It is described on website care. It is optional. Hiding it inside the build price would make the published fee untrue.

What care is for

A changed opening hour, a new phone number, a plugin that needs an update, a backup you can actually restore. Those are care tasks. A brand new service page is new scope, priced as a page, not slipped into a check.

You should still hold the logins. Care does not mean we become the only people who can open the site. If you leave, you take the domain and the hosting access with you.

Basic on-page SEO from the build stays in the words. Care does not become a rankings contract. Google decides positions. A check can confirm the phone number still matches the Google profile. It cannot sell a place on the page.

The £60 renewal

Ask, before you start, who invoices year two. If we set up the domain and hosting, the renewal is around £60 to those providers. If you prefer your own host, you pay them and we need the login to launch.

The domain should already be in your name in year one. A renewal you cannot see, on a name you do not own, is not care. It is a lock-in. We do not use that model.

SSL is part of that renewal bundle in the figure we publish. It is not a separate surprise certificate fee invented in month thirteen.

What happens if you skip it

Skipping care is allowed. The site can stay up on renewed hosting while you change nothing. The risk is a form that stops, a number that is wrong for months, or software that falls behind. For a one-page brochure that rarely changes, you may accept that and call us when something breaks.

For a shop or a diary, skipping checks is a bigger risk because orders and appointments depend on the tool. Those systems also have their own provider fees. Budget those separately from £495.

If several people edit a WordPress site, agree who is allowed to add plugins. An unused plugin is a common way a small site becomes fragile.

How to ask

If you are still choosing the build, start with web design and the page count. Mention care only if you already know you will not log in yourself. We will keep the two prices separate.

If the site is already live and something failed, use contact and say what broke. A one-off fix is not the same as an open-ended plan.

The studio is 109A Brighton Road, Coulsdon, CR5 2NG. Care is remote. A workshop is for a brief that needs one, not a requirement of the plan. A one-page build is often ready in about a week; care, if you take it, starts after launch.
